Uri Clinton Board Chair

Uri Clinton, Esq., MBA

Uri Clinton has more than 15 years of experience as a senior legal executive representing highly-regulated, publicly-traded and international holding companies. Uri partners with and advises corporate CEOs, Presidents, COOs, CFOs and Chief Development Officers on complex commercial and cross-border transactions, major development projects, government relations and/or regulatory compliance to achieve business objectives.

Uri currently serves as the Senior Vice President and Legal Counsel for MGM Resorts International (“MGM”) where he is lead counsel for MGM’s international and domestic casino development projects, supports MGM’s domestic and international government affairs initiatives and serves as MGM’s corporate counsel for regional regulatory issue

Chris Brooks

Executive Vice President, Energy Services Valley Electric 

 

Chris Brooks has more than 25 years of experience in the electrical contracting, renewable energy, and utility industries. Mr. Brooks founded Las Vegas Solar Electric in 2000 and installed the majority of the first Net-Metered solar PV systems in Nevada. He was director of Bombard Renewable Energy in Las Vegas for 10 years, managing the engineering, procurement and construction of the company’s solar projects. While at Bombard from 2004 to 2014, Brooks was responsible for the development of approximately 700 renewable energy projects in Nevada including a 14-megawatt solar energy plant at Nellis Air Force Base and the 26.3-megawatt Stillwater Solar Plant in Fallon, NV, and many other high-profile renewable energy projects. Currently, as Executive Vice President of Energy Services for Valley Electric Association, Inc. (VEA), Mr. Brooks manages VEA’s distributed generation programs and oversees specialized government contracting related to renewable energy services. He also manages VEA’s legislative affairs and the cooperative’s marketing and member services programs. 

 

Shaundell Newsome

President and CEO, Sumnu Marketing

 

Shaundell Newsome brings over 15 years of experience in marketing as the President and CEO at Sumnu Marketing.  Sumnu Marketing was formed in 2011 as a spin off brand of Newsome Marketing Enterprises. Shaundell assisted his children with forming the small business marketing firm with an emphasis on branding, marketing, social media and internet marketing. In 2008 Newsome was recognized as one of the “Top 40 under 40‟ business person by In Business Las Vegas and Small Business Champion of the Year by the Small Business Administration. Sumnu Marketing was a finalist in the Women/Minority Owned Small Business category in 2012. Shaundell developed the 12 Steps of Marketing curriculum including the syllabus, presentation and class materials and has taught many of workshops on marketing in the business community. The company was named Small Business of the Year Finalist in 2012 by the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce.

Steven Horsford

President, R&R Resources+

Recently elected in November 2018, Congressman Steven Horsford serves and represents the 4tth Congressional District of Nevada in the 116th Congress. He is a member of the powerful House Ways & Means Committee, the House Budget Committee, and the House Natural Resources Committee. He also serves on the following caucuses: Gun Violence Prevention Task Force, Black Youth Suicide and Mental Health Task Force, Congressional Black Caucus, New Democrats Coalition, Congressional Progressive Caucus, Pro-Choice Caucus, and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.

 

He previously served as a member of Congress from 2013 to 2015. Before being elected as a U.S. R, Representative, Congressman Horsford represented constituents in the Nevada State Legislature, making history in becoming the first African-American majority leader of the Senate. Here, he passed the “Clean Energy Jobs Initiative” and positioned Nevada as a leader in renewable energy. Outside of public service, Congressman Horsford held the position as CEO of Nevada’s largest workforce agency, Nevada Partners and the Culinary Academy of Las Vegas, where for more than 10 years he was responsible for recruiting and training thousands of workers in the hospitality, healthcare, energy, and IT sectors. Congressman Horsford was born and raised here in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada where he met his wife Sonya and started a family with three children.

 

Vinetta De La Cruz

Vice President Relationship Manager, Bank of the West

 

 Vinetta is a Vice President Relationship Manager at Bank of the West. She started her banking career in 1998 at a large national bank and has more than 20 years in the banking industry. Vinetta specializes in commercial banking with extensive knowledge of depository services and commercial lending. She enjoys being able to work with small businesses and professionals to provide the right products and services that will allow their businesses to succeed and grow. In her spare time, Vinetta and her husband Andy enjoy volunteering, traveling, and spending time with their three children.       

Rose McKinney-James, Emeritus Chair

President, Energy Works Consulting

 

Rose McKinney-James is the Managing Principal of Energy Works LLC, a public policy and advocacy firm based in Las Vegas, Nevada, with an emphasis on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and regulatory and environmental policy. Ms. McKinney-James is a former Commissioner with the Nevada Public Utility Commission and served as Director of the Nevada Department of Business and Industry. As the former CEO of CSTRR, she has been an active advocate for energy policy development in the state for over two decades. She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Energy Foundation and the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy. She was selected to participate on the Obama-Biden transition team and served as FERC Lead. In addition to serving on Nevada Partners’ board, Ms. McKinney-James serves on the boards of MGM Resorts International, Employers Holdings Inc., Toyota Financial Savings Bank, Three Square, and the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Ms. McKinney-James is a graduate of Olivet College and the Antioch School of Law.
