OJT (on the job training)
On-the-job training (OJT) is training conducted by an employer
for an eligible individual while he or she is working and learning
the skills and information necessary for productive and satisfactory
job performance. It is funded by the Southern Nevada Workforce
Investment Board under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and is
administered by Nevada Partners, A Title I provider.
Why Use OJT?
OJT programs can enable participating employers to be reimbursed
for up to 50% of a new employee's wages throughout the duration
of the OJT for up to a maximum of eight (8) weeks.
OJT builds on the pre-employment and fundamental education services
which are provided to customers and addresses the labor force needs
of employers who require skilled and experienced workers.
How does an employer use OJT?
A Nevada Partners Workforce Specialist will meet with the employer
to discuss specific training needs, job information, entry-level
requirements, and expected outcomes for the OJT program. Nevada
Partners and the employer then design a training curriculum,
detailing specific skills, schedule, and training goals for the
position. Upon agreement, the employer and Nevada Partners sign
a standard contract.
Nevada Partners may refer candidates for the OJT position through
its network of programs and services, and a candidate may be hired
as soon as he/she is identified as eligible and appropriate for
the position. The OJT trainee then becomes an employee of the company,
subject to the same standards and benefits accorded to all other
employees.
Computer Training
Nevada Partners offers free computer training to individuals to
learn or improve their Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
and 10 Key by Touch skills. A certified instructor teaches all
computer courses. Additionally, a computer lab is available to
the public Monday through Saturday, and offers typing tutorials
to improve accuracy and speed.
Customer Service Training
In addition to the computer and employability trainings offered
by Nevada Partners, a new program has been established that focuses
on the customer. As an employer, you know that your company succeeds
when your customers are satisfied. Nevada Partners participants
who enroll in the Customer Service Training are equipped with
the tools they need to handle any customer service situation.

Nevada Partners can also customize a training program to fit almost
any employer need. Opening a new call center and need to train
