Adjudicated and Court Involved Youth
Nevada’s prison population will increase 61% by 2017 unless a comprehensive and community-led response is initiated to equip youth with pro-social skills that they need to be productive members of society.
In partnership with Clark County Juvenile Justice, the Spring Mountain Youth Camp and Caliente, Nevada Partners augments juvenile justice programs with education, character development, and career exploration services for youth who are involved in the court system. The goal is to assist the youth to exhibit pro-social behaviors that lead to productive lives and an improved quality of life for the youth, their families and their community.
In the past year, Nevada Partners provided character development classes and work experiences for more than 70 adjudicated youth. All youth were required to attend classes toward completing their high school diploma. Furthermore, 100% of the youth completed the Leadership & Resiliency courses and were placed into summer work experiences in either the Forestry or Culinary programs.
As the youth complete their required detention in either Spring Mountain Youth Camp or Caliente, those who reside in Clark County are released to Nevada Partners for successful transition and re-entry as productive members of their community. Continued wrap around and extensive case management services are provided, and the youth are linked with community-based programs to continue to achieve their educational, career development, and character development activities.
To date, ten youth have been released and are actively participating in Nevada Partners programs.
